Captain Rahotep has fled from Nubia with his handful of archers because his half-brother, who is king of Nubia, has banished him. Fortunately, he is able to gain a position as captain in Egypt. But when he is accused of trying to assassinate the pharaoh and thrown in jail, it seems all hope is lost.I enjoyed most of this book. However I would say that Andre Norton has a bit of a tendency to monologue. I would say that anyone 13 and up could read Shadow Hawk. It does have longer chapters and longer, less-heard-of words that a younger person might not understand.
